Granulators or cutting mills are typically used as secondary shredders within a multi-stage recycling plant. The material has already been pre-shredded. It now needs to be granulated to the desired final size. The rotor speeds are therefore correspondingly higher. A material feeder is not required. All machines are characterised by their heavy-duty steel construction, easy access for maintenance and high throughput rates. Among the most common applications are the secondary shredding of films, canisters, thin-walled pipes, profiles, bumpers, injection moulding waste or deep-drawn parts.
The high-speed shredders in the WNZ series operate on the cutting mill principle and are therefore ideally suited for two-stage processing in combination with a pre-shredder (e.g. WLK 1000). Virtually any type of plastic or wood can be further shredded. The multi-stage process proves to be particularly effective, quiet, energy-efficient and low-wear.
The spherical roller bearings used to support the cutter rotor are housed in external steel bearing housings that are separated from the grinding chamber. This has the advantage that no dust or material can escape unchecked into the grinding or cutting chamber and damage the bearings. Both bearings are also easy to relubricate and are fitted with grease nipples.
If you are looking for a flexible granulator solution, WEIMA has what you need. With our machines, you can granulate pre-shredded materials such as pipes, automotive parts, blow-moulded products like PET bottles, PP/PE bottles, canisters, buckets, films and other flexible materials. With a simple changeover, even start-up lumps or other thick-walled materials can be shredded. In all cases, you will obtain a high-quality, homogeneous regranulate that meets the high standards of a modern recycling plant.
The screen mesh determines the particle size after granulation. The smaller the mesh size, the finer the ground material becomes. If a screen needs to be removed for maintenance purposes or when switching between different material flows, this can be done easily using a screen-changing mechanism.
A round extraction port is fitted as standard on the side of the machine, through which the granulated material can be extracted. If required, a screw conveyor system can also be installed for material removal.
