The S5 series shredders are designed for extreme applications. For years, these machines have set the standard in terms of robustness, functionality, throughput and reliability. A wide range of sizes and options guarantees customer-oriented solutions for virtually all applications. Thanks to its extremely robust design, the series offers virtually unlimited possibilities for the shredding of recyclable materials. Over 80 different equipment options are available for tailor-made, individual solutions and specific applications.

Achieve demanding throughput targets with the Heavy Duty V-Rotor
The profiled V-rotors of the S5 series have a diameter of 500 mm and feature up to 223 cutting blades. All sizes are suitable for universal use and guarantee maximum throughput with low wear costs. The cutting blades are reversible several times and are available in sizes of 40 and 60 mm.

Trouble-free shredding thanks to PLC control with automatic reverse function
With just a single central control cabinet, you can control not only the shredder but the entire conveyor system thanks to a high-quality Siemens PLC. And, if required, downstream secondary shredders within the production line. Large touchscreens make operation easy. An automatic reverse function ensures a trouble-free shredding process.

Safe shredding of large parts with an extended hopper attachment
For feeding particularly large parts, custom hopper extensions and enclosures with plastic curtains are available to prevent uncontrolled ejection. In the heavy-duty version, the feed hopper has double walls, thereby effectively contributing to noise reduction. For example, this S7.30 lift-up shreds huge PE plastic pipes. The material is then granulated and fed into an extruder.

Guaranteed sharp cuts thanks to adjustable counter-blades
A consistently perfect cutting gap with sharp blades ensures that material throughput remains at a consistently high level. For this reason, WEIMA’s rotor and counter blades are not only reversible – the counter blades can also be adjusted manually.

Maximum precision for flexible materials with the F-rotor and Vautid wear protection
The F-rotors of the S5 series have been designed to meet the most demanding requirements. An optional protective coating made of Vautid helps to counteract increased wear. For materials that are particularly sensitive to temperature, optional rotor cooling is available.

Precise material feeding via segmented bottom guide
When shredding very thin materials such as films or fibres, it is particularly advisable to use a segmented base, which guides the pusher even more precisely and prevents jamming. The shock valve at the end of the hydraulic pusher cylinder also absorbs shocks to the pusher, thereby reducing wear.

Protected rotor bearings thanks to their offset mounting relative to the frame
WEIMA shredders are renowned for their durability. This is partly due to the self-aligning roller bearings used in our rotors. Their offset mounting, set back from the machine, protects against contaminants and uncontrolled forces acting on the rotor. It also makes regular maintenance easier.

Easy access to the rotor for maintenance thanks to the screen basket that swings upwards
The screen baskets in the S5 series can be swung upwards. This provides unobstructed access to the rotor, allowing for easy maintenance without any components getting in the way. Changing the screens is just as straightforward. The screen basket can be fitted with round-hole screens in various diameters, as well as zigzag, honeycomb and kidney-shaped screens – depending on the desired shredding result.

Powerful drive options: hydraulic drive or electromechanical drive
Hydraulic drives from Hägglunds / Bosch Rexroth are resistant to contaminants and therefore extremely robust. Speed and torque can be adjusted without causing power surges. This enables high torque to be achieved at low power output. The speed can be variably adjusted using a variable displacement pump. Alternatively, a conventional electromechanical drive with a WEIMA WAP gearbox can also be installed.

Faster slide movements for higher throughput
Thanks to the turbo-hydraulic system, the feed gate feeds the material to be shredded into the rotor much more quickly. This increases your machine’s throughput.

Stronger. Wider. More robust. With heavy-duty options
The more demanding the requirements, the more robust the shredder needs to be. That is why we use high-quality steel side panels with a wall thickness of 40 mm in the S5 series. Combined with the extra-large rotors and matching drives, WEIMA machines are ready for anything.

Less vibration thanks to flexible positioning with hard rubber feet
Despite weighing several tonnes, shredders in this series are fitted with practical hard-rubber feet. These help to dampen vibrations and reduce noise in the immediate vicinity.
