WEIMA Beaver – Compact shredder for long wood scraps – Wood waste

  • Continuous processing of long timber
  • Direct line integration
  • Smooth material feed
  • Robust industrial design
  • Compact design

The WEIMA Biber 400 is a compact horizontal shredder designed for the industrial shredding of long wood waste in woodworking businesses. As an entry-level solution in the field of horizontal shredders, the machine is particularly suitable for strips, narrow square timbers, profiles or offcuts from window and furniture production. Within the WEIMA portfolio, the Biber 400 is positioned as an economical shredder for continuous material feeding at medium throughput rates. Typical applications include waste shredding directly on the production line, followed by thermal recovery or further processing.

The robust rotor and counter-blade technology ensures controlled feeding of long parts and uniform shredding. The compact design allows for easy integration into existing recycling solutions. For wood-processing businesses, the Biber 400 offers a secure investment solution for the efficient reduction of production waste.

The following section focuses on technical details and equipment options.

Product features

High throughput thanks to an electromechanical drive with a V-belt

A powerful drive ensures a consistently high feed rate. The rotor is driven by an electric motor via a V-belt, which efficiently transmits torque. The absence of a gearbox and clutch reduces mechanical complexity and points of wear. This enhances operational reliability whilst ensuring a maintenance-friendly design.

Long service life thanks to offset rotor bearings in the solid machine frame

A robust design ensures reliable continuous operation under load. The rotor bearings are separated from the machine housing and protected against dust and fine particles. The sturdy machine frame absorbs process forces in a controlled manner and reduces vibrations. This extends maintenance intervals and the service life of key components.

Defined particle size thanks to a replaceable round-hole sieve

A consistent particle size is essential for stable downstream processes. A bolted round-hole screen with hole diameters ranging from 10 to 80 mm is installed beneath the rotor. The material remains in the cutting chamber until it reaches the specified screen size and is discharged. This allows for precise adaptation to the varying requirements of further processing.

High throughput thanks to a V-rotor with a controlled feed roller

A continuous feed system increases the plant’s productivity. The robust V-rotor, featuring two rows of blades, operates in conjunction with a controlled feed roller. This ensures that the material is picked up evenly and fed into the cutting process. This reduces load peaks, minimises blade wear and enables high throughput rates whilst maintaining stable energy consumption.

High process reliability thanks to a Siemens PLC control system in a separate control cabinet

Stable process control ensures consistent grinding results during continuous operation. The Siemens PLC controls all machine functions centrally and is housed in a separate control cabinet. Parameters such as running times, load conditions and peripheral devices can be configured to suit specific applications and integrated into higher-level production lines. The result is a reproducible output material combined with high system availability.

Low-dust material discharge via extraction or screw conveyor

Continuous discharge stabilises the overall process. The crushed material is discharged either via a suction connection into a central silo or via a screw conveyor. The enclosed system reduces dust emissions in the working environment. This improves health and safety and minimises the risk of explosive atmospheres.

WEIMA horizontal shredder integrated into the customer's production process

Direct waste disposal through compact integration with the production machine

Short transport distances boost efficiency in day-to-day production. Thanks to its compact design, the horizontal shredder can be positioned right next to processing machines. Waste material is collected and processed immediately. This reduces internal transport requirements, keeps the workplace tidy and supports a continuous flow of materials.
