The WLK 6 S single-shaft shredder is suitable for processing almost all plastics and papers, as well as hard and durable materials. The machines easily shred start-up lumps, pipes, automotive parts, blow-moulded materials such as PET bottles, PE/PP bottles, canisters and buckets, as well as paper, cardboard and light metals. A range of configurations ensures optimal adaptation to every application. The shredder can also be ideally integrated into a two-stage solution.

Flexible control for varying material flows
To precisely control one or more machines, including their conveyor systems, all you need from WEIMA is a single control cabinet. The built-in Siemens PLC control system is optimally tailored to the shredding process. Various slide valve controls and rotor settings can be easily adjusted to suit the desired application. All control cabinets are designed in-house and built at our German production facilities.

A perfect cutting gap thanks to adjustable counter-blades
The interaction between the cutting blade and the counter blade has a significant impact on material throughput and the shredding result. To maintain a perfect cutting gap even as natural wear occurs, the counter blades in this series are manually adjustable and reversible. Thanks to optimal cutting geometry, shredding remains energy-efficient, wear costs are minimised and blade service life is significantly extended.

Precise cutting with an F-rotor for flexible materials
The F-Rotor impresses with its controlled feed behaviour and precise cutting geometry – particularly when processing flexible materials such as films, filaments or veneer. It can be fitted with either bolted or welded blade holders. Furthermore, for more abrasive materials, robust wear protection made from Vautid is available.

Controlled material feed via a slide gate with a serrated plate and segmented bottom
The pusher feed can be controlled manually, in cycles or based on load. Depending on the application, it may be advisable to enhance the standard material pusher with technical options. To prevent jamming and improve guidance, the pusher can be mounted on rollers. WEIMA also recommends the use of a segmented floor – particularly for very thin materials.

Flooring, wood offcuts, waste wood – shredded using a WEIMA WLK 10 shredder @ Appalachian Lumber
Appalachian Lumber, a US-based company based in Wilkesboro, North Carolina, was founded in 1982 near the city of Charlotte and has since specialised in the production of wooden flooring.

Offset rotor bearings to prevent the ingress of dust and foreign particles
Shredding particularly tough materials requires suitably robust bearings that are easy to maintain. WEIMA therefore uses durable self-aligning roller bearings, whose sturdy construction and mounting away from the machine frame protect against impacts and uncontrolled force transmission. Their additional shaft seal effectively prevents the ingress of contaminants or dust.

Consistent grinding results thanks to a flexible interchangeable screen
Adjust the screen to suit your requirements. The smaller the hole diameter, the finer the crushed material that is discharged. Screens can be easily swapped and are bolted in place as standard. On WLK crushers, the screen can be hydraulically tilted upwards. This makes it easier to access the rotor and thus simplifies maintenance.

Easy integration of conveyor systems thanks to the generous belt opening
Machines with a conveyor belt cut-out ensure clean and efficient material discharge – making them ideal for production lines. This allows, for example, conveyor belts up to 600 mm wide to be seamlessly integrated. Alternatively, discharge can be achieved via suction or a screw conveyor.

Robust electromechanical drive with our proprietary WAP gearbox
For most applications, electromechanical drives are the traditional choice, as they are low-maintenance and robust. What sets WEIMA apart is that we manufacture our own gearboxes, which are specifically designed for shredding operations. Torque monitoring and shock-absorbing vibration dampers complete the package. A hydrodynamic start-up clutch is available as an option to provide additional protection for the machine.

Even higher throughput with turbo-hydraulics
The shredder’s feed gate is moved back and forth hydraulically. With the turbo-hydraulic system, this happens even faster. For continuous operation, an additional oil cooling system and a length measurement system are available as optional extras.

Vibration-damping machine feet for reduced vibration in the workshop
Thanks to compact hard-rubber feet, there is no need to anchor the machine to the floor. This allows for flexible positioning. More importantly, disruptive vibrations that have a negative impact on the surrounding area are effectively prevented.

Versatile V-rotor for demanding applications
Many of our customers describe the profiled V-rotor as a true all-rounder when it comes to shredding. With two rows of blades, the material feed is optimally designed. The V-rotor delivers high throughput, low energy consumption, reduced thermal stress and low wear costs.
