WL 6 S
The tried-and-tested classic with a larger rotor diameter

WL 6 S series shredder for wood waste and paper

  • A compact solution for wood waste
  • Constant throughput
  • Reliable feeding of small parts
  • Homogeneous grinding
  • Easy integration into systems
  • Robust technology with a small footprint

The WEIMA WL 6 S single-shaft shredder expands the classic WL series with a larger rotor diameter and optimised throughput rates for the demanding shredding of wood waste in wood-processing plants. Within the WEIMA portfolio, the WL 6 S is particularly suited to businesses with medium to high material volumes that require a robust, durable solution.

The machine can discharge material via a screw conveyor, extraction system or conveyor belts and utilises a flexible PLC control system for precise process management. The specially designed V-rotor with replaceable blades ensures high throughput rates whilst reducing energy consumption and wear. As a result, joiners and wood processors benefit from a cost-effective shredding system offering consistent performance and a wide range of connection options for existing conveyor and extraction systems.

Below is an overview of the technical specifications, applications and available options for this proven single-shaft shredder.

Product features

Easy to operate thanks to the integrated Siemens PLC control system

User-friendly operation makes day-to-day use easier. The Siemens PLC enables centralised control of all relevant machine functions via a clearly laid-out control panel. Parameters can be adjusted quickly, thereby reducing set-up times and ensuring reproducible processes.

High shredding capacity thanks to a powerful rotor

High throughput enables the cost-effective processing of large quantities of material. The robustly designed rotor, with its optimised blade arrangement, ensures reliable material feed and continuous shredding. This results in consistent throughput rates whilst maintaining stable energy consumption during industrial operation.

Smooth process control via a hydraulic material gate

Process reliability reduces downtime and the need for manual intervention. The hydraulically controlled feed gate feeds the input material evenly to the rotor. This prevents material bridging, reduces load peaks and ensures a stable shredding process even when material quality varies.

Long service life thanks to dust-protected rotor bearings

High availability reduces maintenance requirements and operating costs. The rotor bearings are structurally separated from the crushing chamber and effectively protected against dust and foreign matter. This design reduces wear and extends service life in continuous operation.

Defined particle sizes thanks to an interchangeable sieve system

A consistent final particle size facilitates downstream processes. The interchangeable screening system determines the maximum particle size of the crushed material. Thanks to the quick screen changeover, the machine can be flexibly adapted to different requirements without interrupting the production flow.

Long service life thanks to a robust WAP gearbox

A long service life reduces maintenance costs and capital expenditure. The WEIMA WAP gearbox is designed for high torques and continuous operation in industrial environments. Its robust design, tailored to the shredding process, minimises mechanical wear and contributes to consistent machine performance over the long term. This makes the WL 6 S a reliable partner for industrial applications.

Consistently high throughput thanks to optional turbo hydraulics

A consistently high throughput ensures that the plant operates at a steady capacity. The optional turbo-hydraulic system increases the speed and force of the hydraulic material pusher. This allows the material to be fed to the rotor more quickly and evenly, enabling stable throughput rates during continuous industrial operation, particularly when processing bulky or voluminous feedstock.

Reduced vibrations thanks to vibration-damping machine feet

Smooth machine operation improves the working environment. The vibration-damping feet minimise vibrations and structure-borne noise. This protects both the machine and its surroundings and enables stable operation without the need for fixed floor anchoring.
