The WEIMA M8.35 twin-shaft pre-shredder is the larger and more powerful model in the M8 series and has been developed for applications where the M8.28 reaches its capacity limits. With its significantly larger size, the M8.35 is ideally suited to very high throughput rates and particularly voluminous, heavy material flows.
The powerful twin-shaft technology with hydraulic drive ensures active material feeding, controlled pre-shredding and stable continuous operation – even with bulky, non-homogeneous or contaminated materials. As the next higher performance class to the M8.28, the M8.35 relieves the burden on downstream processes even further and sustainably increases overall plant efficiency.
For operators, this means: higher throughput, greater plant availability and cost-effective pre-shredding even under extreme operating conditions. Below, we present the technical design, the versatile applications and the available options of WEIMA’s most powerful twin-shaft pre-shredder.

Direct access to the cutting table thanks to the side inspection flap
The side inspection flap is hydraulically operated and provides quick, safe access to the cutting chamber. The cutting shafts and cutting table are directly accessible for maintenance work, and foreign matter can be removed precisely without the need for dismantling.

Reduces downtime to a minimum
The cutting table is equipped with the EES (Easy Exchange System) and can be removed from the machine frame together with the cutting shafts. This quick-change system reduces changeover times and allows the shredder to be flexibly adapted to changing material requirements in industrial operations.

Flexible machine layout thanks to a separate PowerPack
The 280 kW PowerPack can be positioned flexibly – directly on the machine, at a greater distance, or in a separate room. The enclosed design reliably protects the drive components from moisture, dirt and corrosion. Optional sound-absorbing panels reduce noise emissions and facilitate integration into noise-sensitive production environments.

Overcoming abrasive materials with Hardox armour plating
The cutting shafts are designed for use with abrasive materials and contaminated material flows. Cutting discs made from highly wear-resistant Hardox® 500 steel ensure high resistance to abrasion and foreign particles such as sand or metal, and extend service life in continuous industrial operation.

Optimal shredding results thanks to customised blade configurations
Depending on the desired throughput and target particle size, the cutting shafts can be fitted with between twelve and fourteen cutting discs. The number and width of the discs determine the resulting particle size and allow the grinding process to be tailored to specific applications.

Maximum throughput with hydraulic direct drive
The M8 series twin-shaft shredders are equipped with high-performance hydraulic drives from renowned manufacturers. The system responds quickly even at low power ratings and allows for stopping, starting and reversing under full load. Speed and torque can be adjusted independently and continuously without the need for a frequency converter.

Easy integration into production lines or as a stand-alone solution
WEIMA shredders are equipped with standard industrial interfaces such as PROFINET and PROFIBUS and can be easily integrated into existing production and control environments. The low loading edge allows for direct feeding via grippers, forklift trucks, wheel loaders or conveyor belts. The raised base frame provides sufficient installation space for standard conveyor belt solutions and facilitates the rapid, clean removal of large quantities of material.

Bearings that are always well-lubricated thanks to automatic central lubrication
The central lubrication system ensures that moving machine parts, such as the cutting shaft bearings, are always optimally lubricated. There is no need for manual lubrication using a hand pump.

Shredding particularly large items thanks to the large hopper capacity
The standard version of the hopper has a capacity of five cubic metres and can be extended to up to eight cubic metres for particularly large components or large quantities of material. Its spacious design allows for convenient and safe loading using a grab.

Remote machine operation via remote control or smartphone
The M8 series can be operated via both the integrated touchscreen and a remote control. Key functions such as start and stop, opening and closing the maintenance flap, reversing the cutting shafts and emergency stop are directly accessible. Optionally, a smartphone app allows the system to be controlled and provides access to operating data such as throughput, operating hours, maintenance intervals and fill levels.

Easy parameter adjustment thanks to PLC control with a large touchscreen display
The large-format touchscreen clearly displays all relevant operating data and settings, and allows for easy adjustment of process parameters such as the cutting shaft speed. In addition to the shredder, the Siemens PLC controls connected peripheral equipment such as conveyor systems, separation systems and secondary shredders via PROFINET and PROFIBUS. This enables material flows to be efficiently coordinated and maintenance processes to be optimised in a targeted manner.

Suitable for multi-shift operation thanks to hydraulic oil cooling
M-series shredders are equipped with an air-cooled oil cooling system to compensate for temperature-related fluctuations in the hydraulic oil. This enables long, stable running times without performance-related interruptions. A generously sized oil tank with an integrated microfilter system ensures consistently high oil purity and helps to extend the service life of the hydraulic components.
